Desy is an experienced and passionate massage therapist. She is from Indonesia, where having regular massages is not an uncommon thing. She worked on a cruise ship and travelled to different countries until finally, she met her husband and migrated to Australia.

Unfortunately, since then her husband suffered from Chronic Psoriatic Arthritis which caused pain, stiffness and swelling in and around the joints.

Genes, the immune system and environmental factors are all believed to play a role in the onset of this disease. His was unable to do any heavy physical activity anymore. He has been on medication with harmful side effects for 15 years. Working in a corporate company which involved high demand of focus,  caused increased stress level, and his condition was getting worse.

Desy started to look at natural therapies, to find safe and alternative treatments for her husband. She changed his diet, and gave him Balinese massages regularly, which she learnt from her massage instructor back in Indonesia.

He instantly felt the benefits, even though it felt more like a relaxation massage then a remedial massage. Then she also started looking at her daughter, who is a music scholar recipient at the top performing art high school in Sydney. Her daughter is actively involved in classical music, and she often complaints about her back, neck and arm aches and pains, caused by repetitive movement while practising violin, flute and piano. She also then started to give her massages to relax the muscles and mind.

She felt that she needed to learn more than just Balinese massage, so she actively searched for a best possible remedial massage course. Finally she enrolled herself in a Diploma of Remedial Massage at the Australian College of Massage in Sydney. After finishing hundreds of practical hours of work experiences, she completed all the modules, with great results. She now has even a greater understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as how remedial massage can help so many ailments. She received a lot of great positive feedback, not just from her family and friends, but also from ever other person who have received massages from her, during work experience.

She sees that remedial massage has given her family and friends a lot of health benefits. With proper diet and remedial massages, her husband’s condition has improved significantly. He has been off medication, his pains and stiffness from around his joints has decreased, and his mobility also has improved. Her daughter’s aches and pains have gone away almost completely.

This is one the reasons why Desy is so passionate and determined to help other people relieve aches and pains, prevent them from gaining repetitive strain injury and promote general health and wellbeing.
